My Testimony

I grew up in Staten Island, NY.  Although my family was very active in our church, we were also greatly affected by alcoholism, anxiety, and my grandfather's heartattack which resulted in his sudden death.  My teenage years were influenced by a horrific tragedy, changing churches, and undergoing backsurgery for scoliosis.  Throughout this time I still did daily devotions, was active in our new church, and participated in youth group activities.  During my senior year of high school I decided to attend a Christian college in the Northeast and pursue a degree in elementary education.

I struggled with depression and anxiety while at college.  I suffered from numerous panic attacks and by my senior year I was on medication.  I continued to struggle in these areas for several years afterwards.  During these times I would often self medicate instead of turning to God.  Thankfully God brought me back to Him and led me to a church where I learned a great deal about the power of prayer and was able to experience emotional healing.

Today I am completely off medication and I continue to make progress in overcoming anxiety and depression.  I am learning to trust God with both the big and small details of my life.
